Dr. Jon Chandler

Biography

Jon Chandler is an Associate Professor of History at University College London. His research primarily focuses on the history of the eighteenth-century Atlantic World, with a particular interest in the impact of war on society, politics, and economy. Jon has a keen interest in history education, particularly the use of technology in higher education. Before rejoining UCL, he was at Westminster College, Missouri, as a Fulbright Robertson Visiting Professor of British History. He has taught at various institutions, including Brunel University and Queen Mary University of London. His major publications include 'The Schlager Anthology American Revolution' (Schlager, 2021) and 'War, Patriotism Identity Revolutionary North America' (Boydell Brewer, 2020). Additionally, Jon is engaged in public scholarship, having presented at various events, including a talk at the University of Edinburgh. He actively supports widening participation in higher education, especially in the humanities, and has organized numerous summer schools and conferences. Jon welcomes inquiries from students interested in the American Revolution's aftermath and broader histories of war and society in the early modern Atlantic World.
