Biography

Jon Rubin is an interdisciplinary artist known for creating innovative interventions in public life that aim to reimagine individual, group, and institutional behavior. His notable projects include Conflict Kitchen, a public restaurant that served cuisine from countries in conflict with the United States, running from 2010 to 2017, and Billboard, which featured various artistic messages from 2010 to 2018. Rubin's work has been exhibited in prestigious venues such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Mercosul Biennial in Brazil, Shanghai Biennial, and Carnegie International. He played a vital role in the 15th edition of the Lyon Biennale and has collaborated with artists like Lenka Clayton at the Solomon Guggenheim Museum. Currently, he is collaborating with Iranian artist Sohrab Kashani on a project situated in Tehran and Pittsburgh titled Apartment. Rubin's work has garnered several awards including from the Art Matters Foundation, Creative Work Fund, and he was recognized as a finalist for the Creative Capital Award in International Participatory Art.
