Biography

Jon Weinstein, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified neurologist at UW Medicine, where he is also an associate professor in the Department of Neurology and an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery. He specializes in vascular neurology and neurocritical care, focusing on the acute management of stroke patients and general neurology. Dr. Weinstein earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, and completed his fellowship in vascular neurology at the University of Washington in 2004. His research lab, funded by the NIH, investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain stroke, including studies on ischemic preconditioning and neuroinflammation in stroke pathophysiology. Dr. Weinstein is dedicated to establishing active partnerships with patients to achieve the best possible outcomes and is recognized for his thoroughness and compassionate care. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys exploring the Seattle area, hiking, bicycling, skiing, and playing musical instruments like the piano and trumpet.
