Jonah Radding is an Assistant Instructional Professor and the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Classics at the University of Chicago. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2016. His scholarly work focuses primarily on ancient Greek poetry, particularly in relation to the social and political contexts of the fifth century BCE. Radding has worked extensively on the tragic works of Euripides, as well as the lyric poetry of Pindar and Bacchylides. His recent publication, 'Poetry and the Polis: Euripidean Tragedy,' was released by Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies in 2022. Current research projects involve exploring discourses of defeat in ancient and modern athletics, as well as a study of suspicion and skepticism regarding seers and divination in the ancient Greek world. Radding has teaching experience that includes roles at Northwestern University and involvement in a prison education program where he taught Spanish to adult high school students, particularly serving the Latinx community in Chicago.
