Biography

Jonas Wetterö is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, where he serves as the Deputy Head of the Department of BKV. His research focuses on the inflammatory mediators involved in rheumatic diseases, with the overarching aim of enhancing understanding of inflammation to benefit patients suffering from inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Wetterö conducts experimental studies in acute inflammation and innate immunology, targeting inflammatory mediators. His key research areas include the biological roles and synthesis of acute phase proteins, autoantibodies, immune complexes, and leukocyte respiratory burst reactions, as well as the role of platelets in inflammation. Additionally, he has a long-standing interest in biointerfaces and biosensors. In his teaching role, Wetterö has significant responsibilities in education within his department and is the Director of Studies for several courses aimed at civil engineering students, including those in Engineering Biology and Chemical Biology, where he also teaches subjects such as Immunology and Cell Biology.
