Dr. Jonatan Schytzer

Biography

Jonatan Schytzer is an Associate Professor in Private Law at Uppsala University. His research primarily focuses on insolvency law, exploring critical issues related to the rise of claims within bankruptcy proceedings, and how they intertwine with the obligations of parties involved. His doctoral thesis investigated the conditions under which claims arise in Swedish insolvency law, revealing systematic approaches based on functionalism. Schytzer has authored a monograph on claims arising within insolvency law and has contributed articles examining VAT claims in bankruptcy and the implications of environmental bankruptcy. His ongoing interdisciplinary research includes analyzing the viability test under the new Corporate Reconstruction Act, aiming to mitigate the high failure rate of corporate restructurings. Schytzer actively participates in international research collaborations and networks, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of insolvency law. He serves as the editor of the European Insolvency Restructuring Journal and is involved in various academic and expert groups concerning insolvency law and its intersection with climate change.
