Jonathan helps companies and individuals make sense of digital transformations. Graduating in Computer Science, he became an academic in the mid-1980s at Kingston University London, where he taught Artificial Intelligence. His focus then shifted to multimedia, web technologies, e-commerce, and mobile innovations amidst rapid technological changes. In 1998, he was made a Professor of e-Business at Kingston University. Alongside teaching, Jonathan founded Media, a digital agency catering to diverse clients in sports, fashion, museums, and charities. In 1994, he co-founded Hyper Island, a Swedish school specializing in digital business transformation. In 2012, Jonathan relocated to Singapore to manage Hyper Island's Asia outpost for a new part-time Master's program supported by the Economic Development Board. A constructivist educator, he believes in learning through making and experimentation. He was awarded an Honorary Professorship at Teesside University Business School in March 2019 and currently holds an adjunct position at the National University of Singapore. Among his proudest achievements are helping Benetton launch their website and managing a student social network for Virgin Group in the late 1990s. He currently consults for Coca-Cola, JTI, Arion Bank, and HVIN in Iceland, teaching regularly at the MBA level. His research interests include scenario planning, prototyping, customer-centered design, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and the Internet of Things in urban settings.
