Biography

Professor Jonathan Bull is based at Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre at the University of Southampton. His current research focuses on understanding and quantifying fluid flow in sediments of the seabed, as well as measurement, monitoring, and verification related to carbon capture and storage. He has broad interests that encompass marine geophysics, high-resolution reflection seismology, passive acoustics, tectonics, and the northern Indian Ocean. Professor Bull has been involved in various significant research projects, including using acoustic signatures to determine gas pathways in marine sediment and the ECO2 project concerning sub-seabed CO2 storage's impact on marine ecosystems. He teaches a wide range of courses in marine geology and geophysics and currently coordinates and teaches a module on Exploration Geophysics and Remote Sensing at undergraduate and master's levels.
