Jonathan Cant was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and spent his formative childhood and adolescent years in Mississauga and Oakville, respectively. He completed high school in Oakville and attended Western University in London, Ontario, where he received his undergraduate degree in Psychology. He then decided to remain at Western for graduate school under the supervision of Dr. Melvyn Goodale, earning a graduate degree in Neuroscience. After completing his postdoctoral fellowship, he accepted a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough. His research focuses on studying visual perception and cognition using behavioral neuroimaging techniques, specifically functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). His areas of expertise include object perception (both single objects and ensembles of multiple objects), shape and texture perception, scene perception, visual attention, and visuomotor control.
