Biography

Jonathan Craft is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto. He is the founding director of Policy Ready, a research learning platform focused on revitalizing public sector policymaking. His research specializes in comparative public policy administration and policy analysis, with a particular interest in the study of the policy process, political-administrative relations, and how technology intersects with policymaking. Craft is the author of 'Policy Advice in the Westminster Tradition' (Cambridge University Press, 2020) and 'Backrooms: Partisan Advisers and the Politics of Policy Work in Canada' (University of Toronto Press, 2016). He also co-edited 'Policy Work in Canada: Professional Practices and Analytical Capacities' (University of Toronto Press, 2017). Before joining the University of Toronto, he worked as a federal public servant and Legislative Assistant in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
