Biography

Jonathan Cylus is a Visiting Professor at LSE Health, where he also coordinates the London Hubs for the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. His research mainly focuses on health systems, with an emphasis on health financing policy, health economics, and the performance of health systems. With an extensive background in analyzing health care expenditure and productivity, Jonathan has worked on various topics related to health care costs across Europe, including engagements with the European Commission and OECD. He is particularly interested in the impact of social policies on the determinants of health. Before his role at the Observatory, he served as an economist at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in the United States, where he focused on health care expenditure projections and demographic impacts on health care costs. Jonathan holds a BA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and both an MSc and PhD from the London School of Economics.
