Biography

Jonathan Darnborough studied composition with Alexander Goehr and Robin Holloway at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and pursued piano studies with Phyllis Sellick. He later became a postgraduate student at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied composition under Anthony Gilbert and piano with Derrick Wyndham, eventually earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Composition. Darnborough has written a diverse array of orchestral, choral, chamber, and solo instrumental works, with particular interest in vocal music, including numerous songs and musicals. He is currently working on an opera based on Euripides’s Hecuba.
