Biography

Jonathan S. Feinstein is the John G. Searle Professor at Yale School of Management, where he specializes in creativity and innovation. His current research focuses on the development of creative individuals in a broad range of fields, including entrepreneurship, artistry, and sciences. Feinstein’s work examines the paths to creativity, emphasizing guidance, learning, and the opportunities that enable individuals to pursue their creative interests. He authored the book "Creativity in Large-Scale Contexts" which was published by Stanford University Press in October 2023, following his earlier work "Nature of Creative Development" in 2006. His research has explored various aspects of creative engagement and has been widely published, including notable papers in the Journal of Knowledge Economy and American Economic Review. Aside from his research, he teaches courses on Probability Modeling & Statistics and Creativity & Innovation at Yale. Previously, Feinstein served as the director of the Yale Center for Business and the Environment from 2009 to 2014. He holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA from Stanford University.
