Dr. Jonathan Fielding

Biography

Jonathan Fielding is a distinguished professor specializing in Health Policy and Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He has a robust background in public health, having served as the Commissioner of Public Health in Massachusetts for 16 years and the Health Officer of Los Angeles County. In these roles, he was instrumental in the county's public health response to various infectious disease threats. Dr. Fielding was also a founding member of the U.S. Clinical Preventive Services Task Force and currently serves as Co-Chair for the Healthy People 2030 objectives. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and has held editorial roles in major public health journals. His scholarly contributions exceed 300 publications, focusing on public health, preventive medicine, and health economics. Additionally, Dr. Fielding founded the UCLA Center for Health Advancement and is involved with the UCLA Center for Healthy Climate Solutions, emphasizing the impact of climate change on health. He holds multiple degrees from Harvard University and the Wharton School, including an MD, MPH, and MBA. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the UCLA Medal and honorary doctorates.
