Biography

Dr. Holzman received his Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta in 2003. From 2004-2005, he conducted research on ultrafast all-optical switching as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow with the High-Speed Electronics and Photonics Group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland. He is currently a Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus and leads the Integrated Optics Laboratory. His research focuses on integrated optics to address limitations in contemporary fibre-optic technologies. His team has developed systems for optical wireless links that enable high-speed optical communication and wireless connectivity, along with all-optical processing systems to alleviate electronic bottlenecks in modern optical networks.
