Biography

Jonathan Izawa graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Western University in 1994 and completed his Urology Residency at Western University. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1999. He completed a basic science research clinical fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Urologic Oncology in 2001. Jonathan is a Professor of Surgery and Oncology at Western University, where his clinical practice primarily involves the management of urologic malignancies. He was the Program Director for the Urology Residency Program at Western from 2005 to 2009 and served as the Program Director for the Society of Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Western from 2011 to 2018. Jonathan sits on the Editorial Board and serves as a reviewer for 14 urology journals. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and 8 book chapters, and he has been involved in substantial research funding, receiving $1,000,000 in grants focused on bladder, prostate, and kidney cancer. He is also an Associate Scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute and an executive member of Bladder Cancer Canada.
