Biography

Jonathan Levy is a Chair Professor in the Department of Environmental Health at Boston University School of Public Health. He holds a Doctor of Science from Harvard School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College. His research interests focus on urban environmental exposure, health risk modeling, and the spatiotemporal exposure patterns related to environmental justice issues. He co-directs the Center for Research on Environmental Social Stressors and Housing across the Life Course (CRESSH) and is actively involved in interdisciplinary research that connects environmental epidemiology, exposure science, and health disparities. His recent work examines the health impacts of air pollution in near-airport communities, aviation-related noise effects on cardiovascular health, and the public health co-benefits of reducing carbon emissions in the transportation sector. Beyond research, he also advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion within academia, addressing the implications of missing race and ethnicity data on understanding disparities, particularly in the context of COVID-19.
