Dr. Jonathan Myers

Biography

Jonathan N. Myers is a Clinical Professor (Affiliated) of Medicine with a focus in Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University. He serves as a Health Research Scientist at the Palo Alto VA Health Care System and has been recognized with the Senior Research Career Scientist Award from the VA Rehabilitation Research Development Program. Dr. Myers’s research specializes in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease through clinical applications of exercise testing and rehabilitation for patients with chronic conditions. He has a significant background in studying the epidemiology of cardiopulmonary exercise test responses and the patterns of physical activity and lifestyle factors associated with health outcomes. He is managing the Veterans Exercise Testing Study (VETS), which is an ongoing prospective evaluation of military veterans who are referred for exercise testing. Dr. Myers has earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a master's degree from San Diego State University, and a doctorate from the University of Southern California. He is an active board member of several organizations, including the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He has received multiple accolades for his research, including the Michael Pollock Established Investigator Award and the Steven N. Blair Award for excellence in physical activity research. Additionally, he has made significant contributions as a fellow of various prestigious organizations and authored guidelines on exercise testing for leading health associations.
