Jonathan Packham is a composer and researcher with interests in contemporary and experimental music as well as sonic arts. He completed his DPhil in Music at St Hilda’s College, University of Oxford in 2021, supported by an AHRC DTP studentship. His recent compositions include works for electronics ensemble and projects such as 'SLOWLY SHRINKING WORLDS', commissioned for trombonist Sebastiaan Kemner. Since late 2016, Packham has been experimenting with live-generated video scores in virtual environments, showcased in the 2019 project 'SECRET ANIMALS'. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Leonardo and TEMPO, as well as an essay collection titled 'Crafting Sonic Urbanism: Political Voice II'. In 2024, he co-convened an international conference at Royal Holloway, University of London on technology in contemporary music. He has held positions as a Departmental Lecturer in Music Composition and as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at Royal Holloway.
