Biography

Jonathan Pritchard is the Bing Professor of Population Studies and a Professor in Genetics at Stanford University. He grew up in Pennsylvania and attended high school there. Pritchard received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Mathematics from Penn State University in 1994 and later earned a PhD in Biology from Stanford University in 1998. After completing his doctorate, he held a postdoctoral position in the Department of Statistics at Oxford University. In 2001, he began his first faculty position at the University of Chicago. Pritchard returned to Stanford University in 2013, where he is currently a Professor in the Departments of Biology and Genetics. His research interests focus on understanding the genetic basis of phenotypic variation in humans and the principles of evolution.
