Biography

Jonathan Ruane is a Senior Lecturer in Global Economics Management at MIT Sloan School of Management and a Research Scientist at the Initiative on Digital Economy at MIT. He has expertise at the intersection of digital technology and nascent markets within the global economy. Ruane teaches courses at MIT, focusing on MBA, Executive MBA, and Executive Education programs, co-founding pioneering graduate courses in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Quantum Computing. As Principal Investigator for the National Science Foundation's Centre for Quantum Networks, he leads research ensuring society is prepared for an equitable access to the quantum internet economy. Ruane has also served on the Irish Government's board for RTÉ and the Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council, providing insights and guidance on emerging AI issues. Prior to his academic career, he was the CEO of a venture capital-backed SaaS company. He is also an experienced mountaineer, having summited significant peaks including Mount Everest, and was formerly an athlete in ultra-distance marathons and rowing.
