Biography

Jonathan Rule is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan's Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. He specializes in architectural design, digital technologies, and construction. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master in Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design, he practiced architecture in Spain, where he is a registered architect. Rule co-founded the studio Morcillo Pallares + Rule Arquitectos, which has engaged in various architectural projects including performing arts centers and public space installations. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2018 ACSA Faculty Design Award. In addition to his practice, he conducts research on materials, construction systems, and building design technology, and has received accolades from the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial. Throughout his career, Rule has actively participated in open design competitions across Spain and the United States.
