Biography

Jonathan Schad joined Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2021 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Organisation, focusing on Strategy and Organization. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at King's Business School, King's College London, and was a visiting postdoctoral scholar at Bayes Business School, City, University of London, supported by a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. Jonathan earned his PhD in Management Studies from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, awarded in November 2017. His research investigates the intersection of strategy and organization theory, aiming to understand how organizations manage fundamental competing demands such as stability versus change and short-term versus long-term goals. He draws on paradox theory to contribute to this field. In addition to his role at VU, Jonathan holds appointments as an Academic Fellow and External Lecturer at Université de Genève and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.
