Biography

Jonathan Shannahan is a trained toxicologist with expertise in how susceptible subpopulations respond to toxic exposures. His teaching portfolio includes subjects such as general toxicology, inhalation exposures toxicology, pulmonary physiology, and occupational exposures. His research focuses on nanomaterial-biological interactions, lipid-mediated inflammatory signaling, susceptibility, complex occupational emission exposures, and the oral health effects induced by electronic nicotine delivery systems. Dr. Shannahan employs various research methodologies, including cell culture models, animal models, and human samples, to advance the understanding of toxicological impacts in specific populations.
