Dr. Jonathan Tweedie

Biography

Jonathan Tweedie joined the Alliance Manchester Business School in 2022 as a Lecturer in Accounting. His work critiques the assumed power of accounting to shape change within organizations and society, focusing on the impact of environmental accounting and alternative accounts. His theoretical framework is informed by a diverse range of critical theorists, including Slavoj Žižek, Theodor Adorno, Pierre Bourdieu, and Wendy Brown. Jonathan's research has been published in journals such as the Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Organization Studies, and Public Administration Financial Accountability & Management. He is particularly interested in studying the instruments of power that reproduce inequalities in organizations and society, and he examines themes such as environmental reporting, performance measurement, accountability systems, and transparency disclosures. Jonathan's expertise aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on the critical interdisciplinary study of accounting practices.
