Biography

Jonathan Way is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southampton, where he has taught since 2011. He held a Visiting Research Professor position at the Murphy Institute of Tulane during the 2018-2019 academic year and was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard in Fall 2014. His research primarily explores themes in ethics and epistemology, with particular focus on reasons, rationality, and normativity across various domains. He co-authored the book 'Getting Things Right: Fittingness, Reasons, Value' with Conor McHugh, published by Oxford University Press in 2022. Way is actively involved in academia as an Associate Editor for the Journal Ethics and Social Philosophy and has served as an Area Editor for Ergo. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and MA students on diverse philosophical topics, including animal ethics and political philosophy. Way earned his graduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his undergraduate degree from the University of Bristol before becoming a lecturer at the University of Stirling.
