Biography

A/Prof Jonathan Williamson is a respiratory sleep physician trained in Sydney, Australia, and overseas in Heidelberg, Germany. He serves as a Consultant Respiratory Sleep Physician at Liverpool Hospital and as a Visiting Medical Officer at Macquarie University Hospital. His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of respiratory sleep disorders, including lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary infections, interstitial lung disease, asthma, and sleep disorders. He has specialized sub-interests in airway interventions, including rigid bronchoscopy, cryotherapy, and endoscopic therapies for advanced COPD, as well as the management of central airway obstruction using airway stents. A/Prof Williamson convened the Interventional Pulmonology Special Interest Group of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand from 2015 to 2019, where he chaired a subcommittee tasked with developing and implementing national guidelines for competence in respiratory procedures.
