Biography

Jonathan is an Assistant Professor in Accounting at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan. He joined the faculty in 2025. Jonathan holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Management and Professional Accounting from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Prior to his doctoral studies, he was a visiting PhD student at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago. Before academia, Jonathan worked as an internal audit manager at Loblaw Companies Ltd. and as a Senior Assurance Associate in the Financial Services Organizations Group at EY in Toronto. He is a member of CPA Saskatchewan and CPA Ontario. His research focuses on empirical archival studies in financial accounting, particularly in areas related to corporate restructurings, divestitures, mergers, and acquisitions, as well as their impact on information environments for capital market participants. During the early stages of his PhD, Jonathan investigated topics related to cybersecurity in accounting systems.
