Dr. Jonathan Zasloff

Biography

Jonathan Zasloff is a Professor at UCLA School of Law, specializing in Property, Land Use, Environmental Law, Housing Discrimination Law, and Jewish Law. He earned his B.A. from Yale in 1987, J.D. from Yale in 1993, M.Phil. in International Relations from Cambridge in 1988, M.A. in History from Harvard in 1990, and Ph.D. from Harvard in 2000. Since joining UCLA Law faculty in 1998, Zasloff has engaged in academic and practical dimensions of law and policy. His scholarly interests revolve around the interplay of public institutions and social issues, particularly how legal frameworks influence American foreign policy. He has published extensively in reputable law journals including New York University Law Review and Yale Law Journal. Zasloff has experience as a legal advisor and practitioner in various public interest arenas, particularly concerning environmental law and housing. Notably, he served as a senior policy advisor for the Speaker of the California Assembly and has represented low-income welfare recipients. Additionally, Zasloff is involved in teaching Talmud classes to UCLA undergraduates and has received rabbinic ordination.
