Dr. Jong Shi Pang

Biography

Jong-Shi Pang, elected member of the National Academy of Engineering in February 2021, has been serving as the Epstein Family Chair and Distinguished Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California since August 2013. Prior to this, he was the Caterpillar Professor and Head of the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2007 to 2013. He also held various professorships, including the Margaret Darrin Distinguished Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and at Johns Hopkins University. Professor Pang has extensive experience in operations research and has contributed significantly to multi-agent optimization and equilibrium theory. His research has been recognized with numerous awards, including the George B. Dantzig Prize and the John von Neumann Theory Prize. He is an ISI Highly Cited Researcher and has published over 160 scholarly articles in top-tier journals. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the SIAM Journal on Optimization and has been actively involved in academic advising and distinguished lectures worldwide.
