Biography

Professor Jongyoon Han is the principal investigator of the Micro/Nanofluidic BioMEMS Group at the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research primarily focuses on developing new tools and technologies for biomolecule separation and analysis using advanced microfluidics and nanofluidics. With a strong background in both physics and applied engineering, Professor Han received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Department of Physics at Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea, before earning his PhD from the School of Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University. Prior to his academic career, he was a research scientist at Sandia National Laboratories, where he studied protein microfluidic separation systems. His innovative work is particularly crucial for understanding biological systems, which depend on the ability to analyze biomolecules and sub-cellular components within diverse intracellular environments.
