Biography

Joni S. Jacobsen is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School. As co-chair of Dechert’s Securities Complex Litigation practice, she specializes in defending publicly traded companies' directors and officers against complex securities class action litigation, derivative litigation, and corporate governance disputes. Jacobsen conducts internal investigations for both public and private companies, offering counsel to clients on a broad array of strategic litigation and corporate governance matters. She has been recognized in Chambers and Legal500 and was named one of the Influential Women Lawyers in Chicago by Crain’s Chicago Business. Her experience encompasses addressing a wide range of allegations, including accounting irregularities, insider trading, inadequate and misleading public disclosures, and breaches of fiduciary duties, including short-swing trading. Additionally, she founded the Women Securities Litigation national network, which focuses on collaboration among women in the field and the promotion of female mediators and experts.
