Biography

J.V.R. Prasad is a professor at the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in flight mechanics and control. He received his B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. Prasad is currently the co-principal investigator and associate director of the Army, Navy, and NASA sponsored Vertical Lift Rotorcraft Center of Excellence (VLRCOE) program at Georgia Tech. He has extensive research and design experience in rotorcraft system modeling, propulsion system modeling, and autonomous air vehicle control. Over his career, he has published parts of four books, sixty refereed journal papers, and over 250 conference papers, along with 80 research project reports. He holds 18 invention disclosures and five patents. Prasad has received several awards, including the Melville Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Aero Lion Technologies Outstanding Journal Paper award. He has served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Helicopter Society and holds fellowship status in both AIAA and ASME. His research interests also include vertical lift, urban air mobility, and robotics.
