Biography

Jung Joo Sohn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Design at Purdue University, specializing in Industrial Design and Interaction Design. He holds a Master of Design (MDes) in user research and design planning from the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Design (BDes) in industrial design from Korea. Prior to joining Purdue, Sohn accumulated over eight years of experience as a User Experience (UX) Designer at the Corporate Design Center of Samsung Electronics and served as a visiting scholar at the Aware Home Research Initiative (AHRI) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a multidisciplinary designer who has contributed to the development of emerging devices and new mobile services, with particular focus on artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things in relation to user interfaces and cutting-edge technologies for growth markets. Sohn has been granted over 20 patents in the United States, Europe, and South Korea related to user interface interaction and future display mobile services, with many applications in consumer products at Samsung Electronics. His research interests include Industrial Design, Interaction Design, and User Experience, with a focus on creating technology that harmonizes human sensibility and emotions.
