Jooske IJzer graduated as a veterinarian from Utrecht University in 1995 and has since worked in both small animal and mixed animal practice. She started her residency in veterinary pathology at Utrecht University and successfully completed it in 2002. Jooske earned her PhD from Utrecht University in 2008 with a thesis titled "Liver Fibrosis Regeneration in Dogs and Cats: An Immunohistochemical Approach." Additionally, she was a member of the bachelor examination committee from 2021 to November 2022 and involved in quality assessments. From 2019 until April 2023, Jooske coordinated the pathology education for bachelor and master programs in veterinary medicine. Starting in 2023, she serves as the director of the Undergraduate School of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University.
