Biography

Joost Hutsebaut is a clinical psychologist and researcher at De Viersprong, a specialized institution for diagnosing and treating serious personality and behavioral problems in young people and adults. He works at the Expertise Center for Personality Disorders and holds a special chair at Tilburg University, focusing on 'Prevention and Early Intervention of Personality Pathology.' His areas of expertise include the assessment of personality disorders, early intervention, and generalist treatments. He is an internationally recognized expert in personality disorders in young people and is part of the international GAP network, where he has developed early intervention programs for adolescents at risk of borderline personality disorder. He has conducted research on personality functioning and is the lead author of the STiP-5.1 interview LPFS-BF 2.0, which allows for the assessment of personality problems in young individuals. Hutsebaut has co-developed the Guideline-Informed Treatment for Personality Disorders, a framework that is accessible in over 35 institutions across the Netherlands and abroad. In his teaching role, he provides a master's level course on Treatment Methods that introduces students to the major trends in psychotherapy.
