Biography

Jop Koopman is a Lecturer in Organization Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His expertise intersects the fields of social cultural anthropology and organization studies, with a focus on disaster risk, climate change, and more-than-human ontologies. He is actively involved in researching the socio-political dynamics of environmental justice and resilience, particularly in the context of Indonesian agriculture. His academic background includes a Master’s degree in Social Cultural Anthropology, where he explored the Phoenix Effect in post-disaster scenarios in Lombok, Indonesia. Koopman emphasizes the importance of addressing UN Sustainable Development Goals through his scholarly work, striving to contribute effectively towards mitigating environmental challenges and fostering socio-economic development in vulnerable communities.
