Biography

Jordan is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law and a Tutorial Fellow at Magdalen College, where he lectures on Contract Law for undergraduates and teaches Commercial Remedies, Restitution, and Unjust Enrichment for the Bachelor of Civil Law/Master of Jurisprudence program. At the college level, Jordan teaches Land Law and Roman Law, in addition to Private Law. He has taught on Trusts, Contract, and Tort. His research specializes in private law with a particular emphasis on contract law and property law. He is the author of 'Discharge of Contractual Obligations' published by Oxford University Press in 2025 and has been recognized with the 2025 SLS Peter Birks Prize for Outstanding Early Career Scholarship. He co-authored 'The Law of Tracing' published by Federation Press in 2021 and has worked on asset recovery relating to proceeds of crime laws, navigating the civil-criminal law divide, and co-authoring the Australian text 'Federal Proceeds of Crime Law' with Thomson Reuters in 2024. His research has been cited in major legal cases in the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and various Australian courts. Jordan completed his DPhil in Law at the University of Oxford and holds a Bachelor of Civil Law with distinction. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws with Honours (Medal) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Queensland. Before joining Oxford, he worked as a solicitor in dispute resolution at an international law firm and served under Associate Justice James Edelman at the High Court of Australia. Jordan is also an Associate Member of 3VB Chambers, an Academic Fellow of Middle Temple, and an academic member of the Chancery Bar Association. He is a governor of Magdalen College School in Brackley and will be a Visiting Fellow at the University of Hong Kong in 2025, as well as a Cheng Yu Tung Residence Fellow in 2026.
