Biography

Jordan Kohn is an Assistant Project Scientist at the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health & Human Longevity Science at the University of California, San Diego. He has a decade of experience in mental health research, focusing on identifying biomarkers and predictors associated with neuropsychiatric illnesses, particularly depressive disorders and dementia. His recent investigative work has centered around applying machine learning methodologies to identify treatment responses in depression, as well as examining cellular processes linked with cognitive function and mental health outcomes. Kohn holds a BA in Biology from Reed College and a PhD in Neuroscience from Emory University. He has been a NIMH T32 Postdoctoral Fellow focusing on Geriatric Mental Health and has received multiple research awards, including the ACTRI TL1 Postdoctoral Fellowship. His research activities include improving understanding of social determinants of health among psychiatric emergency patients and exploring the gut-brain axis in relation to obsessive-compulsive disorder. Kohn aims to leverage data from UCSD's electronic medical records for hypothesis generation and causal inference in mental health studies.
