Biography

Jordan White is an Associate Professor of Medical Science and Family Medicine. He trained in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine and serves as a Consultant Medical Director for the Rhode Island Department of Health. He completed his undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of North Carolina, followed by medical school at the University of Maryland. Before joining Brown University in 2006, he worked as a camp counselor and a live-in volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Adelaide, Australia. Dr. White earned his Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Massachusetts, part of his fellowship in Preventive Medicine. After returning to Brown in 2012, he became a core faculty member of the Family Medicine Residency Program and serves as a primary care physician at the Family Care Center. In addition to being the Assistant Clerkship Director for the Family Medicine Clerkship, he served as the Student Affairs Dean at the medical school from 2016 to 2019, especially focused on health during the early COVID pandemic. His work emphasizes health for refugees, family planning, reproductive justice, and health for pregnant and parenting families in Rhode Island. He is part of the Primary Care-Population Medicine Program, where he has co-developed and currently co-leads a year-long course titled 'Leadership in Healthcare.'
