Dr. Jörg-Rüdiger Sack received a Master of Computer Science degree from the University of Bonn, Germany and a Ph.D. from McGill University, Montreal. He has served as editor-in-chief for the journals Computational Geometry: Theory and Applications and Journal of Spatial Information Science, and has been an editor for the Journal of Visualization and Computer Animation. Dr. Sack was the founding chair of NSERC’s national Computer Science Liaison Committee, instrumental in the creation of the national Computer Science organization, CS-Can. He served as a Science Advisor at the German Embassy in Ottawa in 2016 and was part of the decision body for the German Excellence Initiative. Dr. Sack has held significant roles including Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Zuse Institute and a member of the Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board responsible for Computer Science. He has also contributed to various committees including the G8 Research Councils Initiative Multilateral Research Funding and the CFI Cyber-infrastructure Workshop. Dr. Sack has been a professor in the School of Computer Science at Carleton University since 1983.
