Professor Dr. Jörg Quenzer

Biography

Jörg B. Quenzer is a professor specializing in Japanese literature, taking into account the intellectual and cultural history of Japan, as well as the history of language. He studied Japanology, German Studies, and Philosophy at the University of Cologne and earned his doctorate in Japanology from the same institution in 1998. His academic career includes positions at the University of Cologne and the University of Hamburg, where he has been a professor since 2006. Quenzer's recent research focuses on classical literature and the medieval period in Japan, manuscript cultures, and the intersection of Buddhism and literature.
