Professor Dr. Jorge Calderón

Biography

Jorge Calderón specializes in 20th and 21st-century French and Québécois literature, focusing on cultural studies. His research interests include gender and queer theory, sexual diversity studies, and biopolitics. He has trained in French studies at Université de Montréal, Queen's University, and McGill University, and has studied at prestigious institutions like École Normale Supérieure and various Paris universities. He has published extensively on themes such as existentialism, the nouveau roman, and AIDS writing in contemporary literature. Calderón has co-edited several volumes addressing themes related to queer bodies and Canadian literature, and he has held leadership positions in academic associations. Currently, he is writing a book on queer bodies and spaces and leading a research project on queer corporeality and sexuality in Canada and Québec. His scholarly editorship includes contributions to important volumes on queer literature and representation. Throughout his career, he has organized numerous academic conferences and supervised many graduate students in diverse fields of French and Québécois studies.
