Biography

Jorge L. Colón obtained a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences in 1992, followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. He also earned an MBA with a finance certificate from Colorado State University's College of Business in 2015. With over 25 years of experience in clinical practice as an equine ambulatory practitioner in Lexington, Kentucky, Colón transitioned into roles as a private business consultant and educator in 2014. In January 2020, he joined the Cornell Center for Veterinary Business Entrepreneurship (CVBE) as a Senior Lecturer, focusing on financial and organizational management within veterinary education. His responsibilities include the development and implementation of veterinary business educational programs within the veterinary curriculum, creating outreach initiatives for veterinary business executive education, and establishing networking channels among faculty under the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Colón is also the author of 'Essential Business Concepts for Veterinary Professionals' and holds an affiliated faculty position at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management.
