Biography

Jorge Duarte is a professor (ret.) in the Electromechanics and Power Electronics group within the Department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His goal is to analyze and develop electrical power conversion systems with a focus on improved energy efficiency. Duarte’s teaching and research interests include the modeling, simulation, and design optimization of power electronic systems, with particular attention to the control of grid-interactive power converters. He is also interested in specialized topics related to electromagnetism and the assessment of forces in permanent-magnet devices. Since October 2000, he has regularly served as an engineering consultant in the field of power electronic amplifiers for high-tech companies in the Eindhoven region, notably Heliox BV, which is currently known as Siemens.
