Biography

Jorge García is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of Illinois. His academic interests primarily focus on Latin American poetry and narrative, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between affect and literature concerning Central American and Mexican writers. He conducts extensive research into the intersections of phenomenology and literature, focusing especially on Latin American contexts. García's contributions to the field include a variety of publications that explore themes in Latin American literature, with works examining the representation of migration and cultural identity through literary narratives. His academic endeavors are supported by a strong educational background, having obtained a Ph.D. in Spanish American Literature from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Philosophy and Literature from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
