Jorge Macedo is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He received his B.S. (2007) and M.S. His research interests include Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, Advanced Numerical Modeling in Geotechnics, Performance-Based Engineering, and Risk Reliability in Mining Geotechnics. Dr. Macedo's work aims to enhance the reliability of geotechnical systems through innovative modeling techniques and sustainable design principles. He was awarded the 2023 Young Researcher Award by the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering's Technical Committee on Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering and received the prestigious NSF CAREER Award in April 2022.
