Biography

Jorge Marchand is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Washington. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Biomolecular Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, obtained in 2019, and a B.S. in Chemical Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, earned in 2013. His research interests focus on nucleoside natural products, nucleic acids, xenobiology, and synthetic biology. Additionally, he is actively involved in teaching, offering courses in introductory and advanced synthetic biology as well as biological frameworks for engineers. Marchand is currently accepting PhD students into his lab, where he integrates his expertise in chemical engineering with innovative biological applications.
