Biography

Jorge Rubio is a Lecturer in Acting Theater at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has an extensive background in theater, having worked primarily in regional theaters across the U.S., Peru, and Russia. Jorge collaborates with artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, focusing on exploration of social equity, diversity, and culture within the performing arts. He has had the privilege of working with celebrated theater practitioners such as Karin Coonrod, Jay Scheib, and Peter Brook, among others. He is part of the international theater group Compagnia de Colombari, which is dedicated to cultural, social, and artistic diversity, as well as the decolonization of classical texts. Jorge's recent projects include 'Remote' with Compagnia de Colombari and 'El Colaborador' with MicroTeatro Lima, the latter of which addresses political corruption in Peru. His performances have taken place at notable venues such as the Public Theater, La Mama, and the American Repertory Theater. In addition to his role at MIT, Jorge has served as an Assistant Professor and Theatre Program Coordinator at Bunker Hill Community College and has taught at various institutions including the City University of New York and La Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He is also the co-founder of a theater school in Peru that offers acting workshops for children and adults.
