Biography

Dr. Jorge Soto is a professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where he specializes in radiology, specifically in body imaging. He completed his medical training at Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud in Medellin, Colombia, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree along with a specialization in Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Soto has been a part of Boston Medical Center since 2002, having served as the section head of body imaging and later becoming vice chair in 2005 before being promoted to full professor in 2008. His research interests primarily include CT and MR imaging techniques for the diagnosis and management of pancreatico-biliary diseases, trauma, abdominal emergencies, and inflammatory bowel disease, along with CT colonography. He has authored over 130 peer-reviewed journal articles and contributed to numerous review articles and book chapters. Dr. Soto is a fellow of the American Society of Emergency Radiology and the Society of Abdominal Radiology. He holds key editorial responsibilities in various prestigious journals and actively participates in multiple national and international scientific committees and societies. He is currently the president of the New England Roentgen Ray Society and continues to contribute valuable expertise to the field of radiology.
